Mickey's Halloween Party!

Last night we went to Mickey's Halloween Party at Disneyland!  It was uh-mazing!

Let us preface with this: we are not really big Halloween fans.  But this year, with Becky's sewing skills improving, she knew she really wanted to make Olivia a real costume.  We began questioning Olivia months ago, but finally decided upon Alice!  Becky set out in search of costume ideas and patterns.  After a few alterations and tweakings, the end result came out pretty cute!

And yes, our fan did assist with the finishing touches.

Now stick a sassy li'l toddler in it with some tights, and the ensemble becomes downright adorable!

Little Miss Alice on her way to Wonderland!
We (ok, mostly Becky) wanted us to all go with the same theme, so we whipped up some not-too-shabby Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum costumes.  And please, resist the temptation to ask "Now which one is Tweedle Dum?"  We were asked it about 8 zillion times, to which we usually replied with a polite laugh then walked away.

First thing we did was, of course, head right over to Fantasyland and do the tea cups and the Alice in Wonderland ride.

At this point of the party, most people were busy getting their candy, so we took advantage of the short/nonexistent lines and went on a bunch of rides!

Happy to meet Bullseye!
The foggy river, where the "Cadaver Dans" sang Halloween songs.

We then started down the treat trails (candy stations scattered all over the park).  Olivia got pretty good at saying her "Trick-or-treat!"  We had heard that they had a lot of candy, but OH BOY, did they have a lot of candy!!

Finally succumbed to sleep, cuddling her treats.

The one where Olivia grows up, becomes a doctor, and hunts dog poop.

Well, it's been a while since we gave an update. Which usually means a lack of Disneyland pictures, but not this time! This time Olivia has taken some "big girl" steps, went to her first BYU football game, and visited Arizona with Becky....

...and went to Disneyland. Of course.

But, we ended off August by changing out Olivia's crib for a big girl bed.

Ikea: LEGO for adults.
For some reason, big girl beds just have to be bounced on, so Olivia was a little blurry in most of her pictures...

...but we did get this good pose out of her the next night. What a ham!

Olivia had her first dentist check-up. She was the perfect patient. Loved the attention, and her teeth are good to go. Our dentist is about a minute drive away, his office is just him and his daughter, who's the hygienist, and his reminder card is a picture of him driving his motorcycle and his pet chihuahua.

And, always fashionable, Becky made her a new church dress.

Now that she's been weened from a pacifier, in a big girl bed, and almost potty-trained, Olivia is pretty much all grown up:

We ended off the Summer with some more Disneyland trips and visits to the beach. The typical California day-to-day grind, you know?

You'll notice Olivia likes stealing Becky's clothes these days...
We went to the BYU v. UCLA game back in September. It was pretty fun until the last six minutes or so, when the subdued, mopey crowd turned on a dime. The drunk guy who had been in a depression the whole game cleverly came up with, "Bye, bye, BYU! Wouldn't want to B-Y-U!" Classy.

Olivia didn't care about the loss; she and her friend, Lexi, just ate their way through the game.

Becky and Olivia got away from the California heat to enjoy the Arizona heat with Becky's parents while Nick worked on some writing at home.

Olivia had a great time. She had nutritious breakfasts.

And became obsessed with not stepping in dog poop.

And found even more of Becky's clothes to steal (although this time they actually fit).

Practicing her 'foot pop' in an old ballet costume.
She also started practicing medicine and playing the patient. Her injuries were usually very dramatic, although one time a foot injury was due to, you guessed it, stepping in dog poop.

She had a great time in Arizona.

Now we're all just waiting for Fall to arrive and this 100 degree weather to go away. And next up this week? Halloween at....Disneyland. Just can't escape the place, huh?
