The Academy Award Goes To...

Well tonight the Academy Awards are taking place in LA.  While Becky's mom was here visiting last week were were going to show her around Hollywood Boulevard, but the area has been closed off for days in preparation for the Oscars.  Oh well, we still had lots of fun with her!

We don't have cable in our apartment, but we're planning on watching it online tonight so hopefully it will work!  Olivia is pretty excited for it-- this is, after all, her first Oscars, and she knows that movies are a big deal in our family. 

Perhaps Olivia will become a famous actress someday.  We live so close to Hollywood, it could happen!  The camera loves her!

She already has a vast knowledge of the film industry and past productions!

The only deal-breaker is she forgets her lines when she sees the camera is rolling...we'll work on it!

Olivia's Blessing

Oh boy, what a weekend!  We were lucky enough to have some family come into town to attend Olivia's baby blessing on Sunday.  Nick's sister Megan got here on Thursday night, so we thought it would be fun to go up to Santa Monica with her on Friday.  We did a little shopping, ate some yummy food, and walked on the pier for a while.

Becky's parents arrived Saturday afternoon-- Grandpa Brian brought a beautiful name plate that he made for Olivia!

On Sunday Olivia had her baby blessing at church.  Her cousins Lindy and Kyla were kind enough to let her borrow their beautiful blessing dress.  Unfortunately, Miss Olivia had a diaper blow-out in the white dress right after sacrament meeting...Olivia ended up going through 3 outfits at church and peed all over Megan.  She just wanted to make her blessing day extra memorable :)  But in all that hubbub, we didn't get a picture of her in the blessing dress!  Becky rushed home after church to wash the dress and was (thankfully) able to get it all clean and pretty again.  So, we took some pictures of Olivia in it today and will pretend like we took them on Sunday!

Busy Bees

February is turning into a busy and exciting month for us!  Nick is always writing and re-writing his current feature film script and is also working on writing a TV pilot episode for school.  He is really enjoying his classes this semester and likes being at Loyola Marymount, especially because last Saturday he got to attend a Q&A there with JJ Abrams (producer of Lost/Fringe/Alias, director of Mission Impossible 3/Super 8/Star Trek)!  They're basically best friends now.  Nick also recently started a blog called Mr. ScreenRight, where he talks about all sorts of cool film and screenwriting things.  You should check it out, it's very informative and fun to read!  When he's not writing, he likes to play with Olivia by getting her to smile, "talk", and occasionally giggle. He is becoming the family chef and is kind enough to cook dinner almost every night!

Meanwhile, Becky is busy doing motherly, homemaker things like cleaning, baking, and taking care of Olivia (not very exciting, but nonetheless important!).  She has been experimenting with sewing lately, so hopefully a post about a successful project will appear here in the not-too-distant future.  As always, Becky likes trying out new Nick-friendly dessert recipes, which is both a good and a bad thing-- it's nice to have treats in the house, but sometimes we end up having too many sweets...perhaps we should get more serious about our new year resolutions to exercise...

Miss Olivia is quite busy as well!  Olivia usually starts off the day by eating eating breakfast, getting dressed, and then sitting through a photoshoot with her mom.  Here are some from today's:

But sometimes, she'll sneak out into the family room and watch a little TV while we are sleeping :)

Apple of My Eye

Yesterday Olivia had her first visit with the ophthalmologist   Because Nick has a history of glaucoma, we wanted to take her in to get her eyes checked and make sure everything is looking okay.  Besides wiggling a lot when the doctor got really close and shined lots of lights in her eyes, she did awesome and didn't cry any!  Best news of all: the doctor says her eyes look perfect and she has no signs of glaucoma!

Doctor Visit

Olivia turned 2 months this week-- we feel like she is growing up so fast!  Today we went to the pediatrician and it was confirmed that she really is getting bigger: she now weighs 9 pounds 10 ounces and is 22.5 inches long!

Unfortunately, going for your 2 month doctor visit also means you have to get shots in both legs...
