Summer Solstice

Hooray for the first day of summer!  Today we did some great summer activities that Olivia had never done before.  First, we found our local library branch!  Now we can get lots of books for some summer readin'.

Olivia was fascinated by all the books at the library.  So we had to sit down and read a few in the children's section.

Olivia likes to help turn the book pages

After visiting the library, we went and played at the park by our house.  Olivia had never been in an outdoor swing, but she found it just as enjoyable (if not more so) than her indoor swing!  Notice Olivia's preferred swinging technique: keep hips and legs completely straight while leaning forward.

A nice new sunhat made by Becky for summertime!

She also spent some time on a bouncy fire truck...

...and then she played a little on the slide!

Silly static-y slide hair!
All in all, the park seems like a big hit to Olivia, we'll probably be going back again soon.

After the park, we came home and Nick made us delicious homemade burgers and fries for dinner-- the perfect summer (or anytime, really) meal!

Here's to a GREAT summer!

Photoshoot for Aunt Megan

Olivia's Aunt Megan got her a wonderful onesie for Christmas and has been anxiously awaiting for Olivia to be big enough to wear it.  Now that Olivia is a big 6 month old girl, it finally fits!  So we dedicate this photoshoot to Aunt Megan :)

Here's a little video of Olivia just being Olivia.  A couple of days ago she started doing this thing where she flaps her mouth open and closed, it's pretty hilarious!

The Happiest Place On Earth

We spent the last few days in Disneyland with some family-- it was amazing and we had so much fun!
Olivia was a little camera shy.
We were a little nervous about bringing a 6 month old to Disneyland, but Olivia loved it.  She went on quite a few rides, watched shows, and napped like a big girl in her stroller when she got sleepy.

Some of her favorite rides were It's A Small World...

...and the Carousel!

She knew to hold on real tight!
She really liked meeting the Disney characters, and they all loved her too!

We sure love Disneyland, so we decided to get Annual Passports!  We're excited to go back later this summer and make more Disney memories with our Olivia!

Bananagrams

You may or may not have known this about us, but we're fans of board games.  In fact, one of the first things we did after meeting for the first time was play the game Bang (oh, those were the days!).  However, once we got married, our board game intake dropped dramatically...that's what happens when you don't have any roommates to play with, plus there aren't many two-player games.  Then, after having Olivia, we pretty much stopped altogether.

But now that Olivia is getting older, she is more patient while we play and we are less sleep-deprived (it's hard to concentrate on a game when you are exhausted).  So this afternoon we decided to play one of our favorites: Bananagrams!  After we finished a round, we thought it would be fun to try and use all the game tiles to spell out Disney words.  After a couple hours of thinking and rearranging, we succeeded!  We feel pretty proud of ourselves for using every single tile :) here's the finished product:

Oh and Olivia helped some too!
